Tom Brady’s Missing Super Bowl Jersey Found

The riveting case of Brady’s missing Super Bowl jersey has seem to come to an end.

As it turns out, the jersey was found in Mexico, along with other Super Bowl memorabilia, including Brady’s jersey from Super Bowl 49 in 2015, and Von Miller’s Denver Broncos helmet from Super Bowl 50 last year. All the items are in the process of being authenticated.

The thief was apparently a Mexican journalist named Martin Mauricio Ortega.  He was the director of a major Mexican newspaper until he resigned last week.

The authorities found footage from Fox, which showed Ortega enter the locker room, and reach into Brady’s bag.  He put the jersey into a black plastic bag and left.  His back was to the camera, so officials had to go through about 20,000 people with credentials to be in the area before settling on Ortega.

Brady said, quote, “I’m happy my Super Bowl jerseys have been recovered, and I want to thank all of the law enforcement agencies involved . . . Hopefully when I get [them] back I can make something very positive come from this experience.”

It’s unclear if Ortega has been arrested or what’s going on with him. The Houston Police claim the jersey is worth $500,000, so the theft was being considered a first degree felony.

Let’s be honest here, it was Tom Brady, of course they’re gonna arrest him and charge him. If it was a Trent Dilfer jersey the response would have been more like, “Oh well.” We’ll keep you posted on what happens to Ortega, but my guess is off to hoosegow you go. Just sayin’.
